Can I reserve a specific car model?
It is not possible to reserve a specific model of car, we only guarantee the categories of vehicles that we offer through our website.

How do I cancel a reservation?
If the reservation was made through the Call Center, we advise you to dial from Mexico at 800-716-6625 and from the USA, at 1-877-567-3572.

If you have made the reservation through our national website, you need to enter a period greater than 24 hours prior to the rental at the following link: www.nationalcar.com.mx; and select the 'View / Modify / Cancel' option, otherwise, request support through our Call Center.

How much of my Credit Card will be retained?
At the time of the opening of the contract you will be asked for a credit card to make a pre-authorization that goes from $5,000 pesos in guarantee, the criteria we take is variable so it will depend on the type of car, days of rent, the charges at the end of the rent.

What is the Base Rate?
The base rate is the cost of the rent not including taxes and additional services.

What is the transfer fee?
All the rents with return in another city are subject to an additional charge, this being the Transfer or Drop-Off Charge.
Its value depends on the mileage between the location where the rental unit is taken and the location where the vehicle is returned.

Can I pick up the vehicle in one city and deliver it in another?
it's possible, being subject to a transfer or drop off charge.

Can I use someone else's credit card to rent a car?
National Car Rental's policy ask the contract holder to provide their credit card.
It is of utmost importance that all additional drivers present their current license and official identification.

Can you rent a car for hours?
It is possible to rent a unit per hour, considering that National Car Rental Mexico calculates its daily rates based on a 24-hour rental period.

Can I drive the vehicle out of the state where I rented it?
If possible, the only restriction is that the vehicle must circulate within the limits of the Mexican Republic; In case you need to overreach the northern border that borders the United States of America, you must contact the office where you rented the car or call our Call Center from Mexico at 800-716-6625 to indicate the correct procedure.

If your route plans include transfers to the D.F., and the car will be rented at an office and / or federal entity other than D.F. and to the State of Mexico; it will be necessary to take into account certain considerations in order not to have restrictions on road traffic; For this, we thank you to contact our reservations department or you can refer to our office where you want to rent the car and with pleasure one of our representatives will advise you on the matter.

Can I travel with the rental car to the USA?
Yes, we ask that you contact our Call Center from Mexico at 800-716-6625 and from the USA, at 1-877-567-3572, mentioning that you are traveling to the USA, the cost per day for the extension of protection for crossing the border into the US is $200 pesos plus taxes.

It only applies to rentals in the cities of Tijuana, Mexicali, Monterrey and Hermosillo.

By informing our Call Center with a minimum of 48 hours prior to the rental, from any other city in the Mexican Republic the extension of protection can be processed to cross into the US.

Can I travel with the rental car to the neighboring countries of the South?
Our fleet of rental vehicles is not allowed to enter the neighboring countries of the South.

What credit cards do you accept?
We accept the following credit cards: VISA, MasterCard and American Express.

Can I pay in cash or debit card?
When starting your booking, it is mandatory to present a credit card and at the end of the rent you can pay in cash or debit card. Requirements

What is the minimum age to be able to rent a car?
The minimum age to rent a car with National Car Rental México is 25 years old.
All clients between 21 and 24 years old must pay a daily fee of $ 90 pesos plus taxes.

Driver's license and credit card must be in the same name?
In order to rent a vehicle with National Car Rental México, it is necessary to present an official credential (IFE or Passport), valid driver's license and credit card of the person who will be the holder of the contract; all of them in original.

Do I must carry Mexican driver's license?
It is a fundamental requirement that the holder of the contract present his current driver's license regardless of his nationality.

Which documents can be presented as official identification?
The accepted official identifications are ID and Passport, these must be valid.

The vehicle that I rented can be drived by another person?
In case the owner of the contract cannot drive the vehicle or alternatively wants a second driver in his rent, it is necessary to acquire the service of * Additional Driver (with a daily charge of $ 90 pesos plus taxes). Said additional driver must present a valid driver's license.

Driver's license and credit card must be under the same name?

Returning a car late

What happens if I do not return the car on the date or time designated in the contract?
National Car Rental México calculates your daily rates based on a 24-hour rental period. Failure to return the vehicle on time will incur delay charges.

What should I do if I left the keys inside the vehicle?
Request assistance from National Car Rental so that they send you a duplicate, this action will result in an extra cost that will be assessed according to the distance and time of the event and assistance is required. If the client chooses to "open" the unit by his own means and it will be damaged and / or altered in the functional mechanisms for opening and / or starting the car, the fact will be considered negligence and the client will be responsible for the total costs for repairing such damage to the unit.

What should I do if I lost the keys?
Immediately report to National Car Rental (the office where you rented the vehicle) and request the duplicate keys. Yes, as long as the client has contracted National Total Protection coverage.

What should I do if the car ran out of gas?
Manage the fuel supply by their own means; in fortuitous and exceptional cases and only if you have "Total National Protection" coverage, you can give assistance on the road as long as you are within the metropolitan area of the city where you have rented the unit, considering that the fuel supply will be on behalf of the customer at a unit cost per liter according to the National Car Rental tab (it is a higher price than the gas station).
